AvtoVAZ Sales in April Drop Three-Fold

In April, AvtoVAZ sold 10,055 cars in Russia, the company said in a press release. This is 3.2 times less compared to April 2019, when AvtoVAZ sold 32,316 cars in Russia, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses (AEB).

The AvtoVAZ press release states that the most popular Lada car was the Granta family model (3,058 of these cars were sold). The three leaders also included the Lada Vesta family (2,913 cars sold) and the Largus family (1,286 cars). AvtoVAZ said that Lada has maintained a leading position in market share in the segment of cars and light commercial vehicles, Kommersant reported.

Last week, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that it would consider the possibility of allocating subsidies for salaries to car dealers. In April, car dealers received less than 280 billion rubles revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic. Auto retailers fear to close 20-30% of dealerships across the country.
