Iran Hopes to Strike Deal with Russia on Sputnik V Supply Soon

Iran expects to sign an agreement with Russia on the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine’s supply in the coming days, the Iranian president’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi announced on Wednesday, TASS reports.

“We have launched negotiations with Russia. <…> I hope that an agreement will be signed today or tomorrow,” he said, noting that the vaccine could be delivered within three months.

On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced following the talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov that the country’s authorities had approved Sputnik V and expected to start its production in the near future.
