The construction of Terminal G at the Moscow based Sheremetyevo Airport may start in 2024, Sergey Papkov, Deputy General Director of the airport for construction, told reporters, TASS informed.

“I think so,” he said responding to the question of whether the construction of the terminal will begin in 2024-2025, adding that the construction project is currently under development.

Currently, Terminal S1, which is part of the Sheremetyevo northern terminal complex, is under reconstruction. Once it is launched in the early 2020 it will be combined with terminal B. After that, the upgrade of Terminal C2 will start.

Papkov also said that the launch of the third runway at Sheremetyevo Airport has been postponed until the end of 2020.

Initially, it was planned to commission the new runway by the beginning of the 2018 World Cup – but the launch of the new flight strip was postponed several times, TASS adds.

The Transport Ministry then reported that the commissioning of the third runway at Sheremetyevo would ensure the growth of takeoff and landing operations to 100 per hour from 70 per hour now.
