Putin Personally Oversees Inflation: Peskov

Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with the administration on a regular basis to discuss the issue of inflation in the country, which he personally controls, said Dmitry Peskov, the president’s press secretary, Kommersant reported.

Consumer prices in Russia increased by 0.09 percent over the week, compared to 0.1 percent the previous week, according to Rosstat.

Inflation in yearly terms was 6.79 percent, according to the Ministry of Economy. This is the highest level of inflation since August 2016, when prices rose 6.9%.
