Russia Records over 24,700 Daily COVID-19 Cases

Russia confirmed 24,763 new coronavirus cases in the past day, bringing the total caseload to 3,495,816, TASS reports citing the anti-coronavirus crisis center.

This is a new high since January 2 when 26,301 cases were recorded.

The lowest growth rates were recorded in the past day in the Tuva Republic (0.2%), the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, the Jewish Autonomous Region, the Kostroma Region (0.3%) and the Magadan Region (0.4%).

The average growth rate stood at 0.7%.

Moscow confirmed 5,893 daily COVID-19 cases. Over the past day, another 3,041 coronavirus cases were recorded in St. Petersburg, 1,263 in the Moscow Region, 476 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 393 in the Voronezh Region and 392 in the Rostov Region.

Currently, 549,832 people are undergoing treatment for the coronavirus in Russia.

Recoveries

Russia’s coronavirus recoveries rose by 27,956 to 2,882,044 in the past 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Thursday.

Recoveries surpassed new cases for the third day in a row. According to data from the crisis center, the share of recovered patients has grown to 82.4%.

In particular, 3,551 coronavirus recoveries were recorded in St. Petersburg in the past day, 1,358 in the Moscow Region, 498 in the Tver Region, 478 in the Ulyanovsk Region and 462 in the Voronezh Region.

Fatalities

Russia has documented 570 deaths from COVID-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in the past 24 hours, compared to 566 deaths the day before. In total, 63,940 people have died from the virus in Russia, the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center informed reporters on Thursday.

The preliminary lethality rate reaches 1.83%, the crisis center stated.

In the past 24 hours, 83 patients have died in St. Petersburg, 68 in Moscow, 29 in the Rostov Region, 25 in the Moscow and the Krasnoyarsk regions each, 20 in the Sverdlovsk Region and 15 in the Voronezh Region and the Krasnodar Region each.
