Sheremetyevo Conducted 2,715 COVID-19 Tests in August

Sheremetyevo International Airport in Russia has performed a total of 2,715 tests using the EMG express diagnostic service for Covid-19 between July 20 and August 2020, Airport Technology reports.

The express testing has been carried out for passengers departing and arriving on international flights.

Last month, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Sheremetyevo International Airport announced the launch of the coronavirus testing service.

The airport’s total international passenger traffic was 14,316 people from 1 August to 5 August. Of these, 4,168 passengers were on scheduled flights to Turkey and Great Britain and 5,284 passengers on flights arriving from Turkey and Great Britain.

Sheremetyevo’s passengers and guests can get an express Covid-19 test and obtain a reliable result within 60 minutes at the health centres in Terminal B, which serves domestic flights, and Terminal D, which serves domestic and international flights.

Created with support from RDIF, the EMG diagnostic system is adapted for fixed as well as unique, mobile mini-laboratories.

Ready for use everywhere, the express diagnostic system can be provided as a service for passengers at transport facilities such as airports and train stations.

At the airport’s Terminal D, international services resumed on 1 August.

Last year, Sheremetyevo served 49.9 million passengers, which is 8.9% more than in 2018.

The airport is now implementing various preventive measures to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel, including monitoring the health status of individuals arriving at the airport.

Other measures include disinfection of premises and the installation of automatic non-contact hand sanitisers. Personal protective equipment is available for purchase.
