Gazprom Intends to Direct about 60% of Investments to Projects in the East of Russia

Gazprom said that in the “near future” it plans to allocate about 60% of investments to projects in the East of Russia, according Oleg Aksyutin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, Head of Department 623 of Gazprom. Projects include the Yakutsk and Irkutsk gas production centers and projects on Sakhalin.

“In the near medium term, about 60% of our investments are planned to be carried out in the east of our country – these are Yakutsk, Irkutsk gas production centers and Sakhalin and everything connected with these projects,” Aksyutin said at a press conference, as quoted by TASS.

Gazprom plans to invest around RUB 900 billion. per year in the medium term. According to a company representative, this number will not change “globally”. At least 35-40% of the investment program will go to production projects, 40-45% to transportation, about 10% to processing facilities, and about 10% to other projects.

In April it became known that Gazprom had postponed the development of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field, the largest offshore Sakhalin. The field development date has been shifted to 2024. According to analysts, this will at least slow down the implementation of Gazprom’s plans to export pipeline gas to China from the Far East.
