President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden are expected to discuss the subject of Russians imprisoned in the United States and U.S. citizens convicted in Russia, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The presidential spokesperson stated that the Kremlin had not received a letter from Viktor Bout’s mother, who requested that her son be returned to Russia. Bout is presently incarcerated in the United States, TASS reports.

The Foreign Ministry declared in late January that Moscow would not make unilateral concessions to the U.S. on the topic of prisoner exchanging. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry raised concerns about the treatment of several Russian citizens in U.S. prisons in early December. Despite having major health problems, Konstantin Yaroshenko and Roman Seleznyov do not obtain sufficient medical care. Viktor Bout, another Russian convict, has been relocated to a special prison facility with stricter circumstances for no apparent reason.
