The national nuclear body Rosatom and the AEON Corporation announced that they would collaborate on the construction of ice-class boats to carry coal from the Taimyr Peninsula, TASS reported.
The deal calls for the construction of boats of the Arc5 class and higher, as well as tows of the Arc6/Icebreaker6 class, to transport general cargo and products from the Syradasayskoye coal field on the Taimyr Peninsula, as per Rosatom’s press office.
The Severnaya Zvezda Company is working on a proposal to establish a coal facility at Syradasayskoye, the world’s largest coal resource. Dikson is 110 kilometers away (the Krasnoyarsk Region). The total amount of exploitable resources is expected to reach 5 billion tons. The project entails organizing production with an annual production of up to 10 million tons, building a processing facility, and constructing essential infrastructure, including as a new Yenisei harbor.
