According to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov, the number of self-employed Russians would double by 2024, to 5-6 million, TASS reports.
Many analysts estimate that the number of self-employed persons in Russia will reach 10-11 million by 2030, according to Kotyakov.
The minister had previously stated that the rise was attributable, among other things, to university graduates’ desire to work for themselves rather than for the corporation.
According to him, over 60% of graduates only see their future in the manner of working for oneself and expanding their own education. Every year, almost 1.2 million young people in the Russian Federation graduate from universities, Kotyakov noted.
