Mir cardholders will be able to use Apple Pay effective Tuesday, according to the billing system’s press department, TASS reports.
Innovative iPhone technologies safeguard every Apple Pay transaction. Owners of an iPhone or an Apple Watch can make a payment. Apple Pay may also be used to make purchases in apps and websites that are open in the Safari browser on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
According to Vladimir Komlev, General Director of the payment system, Sberbank, VTB, Tinkoff Bank, as well as other banks were the first which have provided Apple Pay to Mir cardholders.
Mir is a Russian national payment system that has over 270 banks as partners. Mir cards are issued by over 150 banks. The payment system cards are presently authorized in 11 countries, with three additional nations undergoing initial testing.
