Persons who are engaged in forging certificates of vaccination against coronavirus can face up to 10 years in prison, said on Monday, June 28, the head of AVG Legal Alexei Gavrishev.
The attorney emphasized that the introduction of QR codes and passes for citizens gave rise to a large illegal market for counterfeiting and selling such certificates.
“From the point of view of criminal legislation, the activities of persons offering fake passes for sale will be qualified as fraud and forgery of documents, that is, under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment for which can be up to 10 years in prison, and Art. 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment for which is up to three years in prison,” the expert said in an interview with Izvestia.
Earlier on Monday, the chairman of the Federal Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Andrei Klishas, also told RIA Novosti that for the purchase of a fake certificate one can get up to one year in prison, regardless of whether it was possible to use it or not.
