The Ministry of Labor will simplify the procedure for assigning and paying pensions; for this purpose, the Ministry has developed draft orders, Russian media reported.

The first draft of the order provides for the automatic assignment of pensions. This means that a citizen will be able, through the portal of public services, to express in advance his consent to the automatic appointment of an insurance pension, and the citizen will not have to write an application to the Pension Fund of Russia (PFR).

In this case, government agencies will settle all formalities without the participation of the citizen, based on data from the FIU and other information government systems. Automatic assignment of a pension is possible only if the citizen did not work abroad, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

In addition, the draft order establishes the automatic assignment of a disability pension from 2022.

At the same time, an old-age pension (insurance and social) will be assigned after receiving an application from a citizen.

The Ministry of Labor has also developed a project to update the rules for the payment of pensions, control over their payment, and verification of documents for receiving pensions.

According to the Ministry of Labor, the average pension amounted to 15,744 rubles by January 1, 2016, while by January 1, 2016 – 12,673 rubles, that is, the size of the pension has increased over the past five years by more than 3 thousand rubles.
