Philip Morris Stops Selling IQOS in Belarus Due to Sanctions

Tobacco giant Philip Morris has stopped selling IQOS tobacco heating systems in Belarus, a decision made due to the sanctions imposed by the EU against Minsk, Russian media writes.

Sales of devices have stopped since the third quarter of this year. The IQOS importer to Belarus was the Energo-OIL company, and it is currently on the sanctions list.

Philip Morris said that in Minsk they managed to achieve almost 7 percent of sales in the second quarter of this year, but the sanctions do not allow the devices to be delivered further.

In 2021, Energo-OIL became the only supplier of tobacco heating systems in Belarus. The company was owned by businessman Alexei Oleksin, who earlier this year transferred the key assets of the company to his sons.
