The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, who spoke during the live stream on the Solovyov YouTube channel, stated that Russia has not ceased its discussion with the United States and would continue to establish ties on the basis of Washington’s realistic measures, TASS reports.

Zakharova said that Russia will follow the practical steps of the American side, after the U.S. State Department appointed a new special energy envoy. According to the spokeswoman, there had been multiple situations where Washington made remarks that did not go beyond just statements.

It was emphasized that Russia maintained communication with the U.S. and never closed the door to a discussion with it.

Kremlin responded to the hostile actions that America adopts against the nation, Zakharova said and added that Russia will always respond positively to positive actions taken towards the country.

Reuters reported on Monday that United States President Joe Biden has selected Amos Hochstein, a staunch opponent of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, as the State Department’s special envoy for energy.
