Coronavirus Cases in Russia Top 200,000

The Russian authorities said on Sunday they had recorded 11,012 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 209,688, Reuters reported.

Russia’s coronavirus taskforce said 88 people had died in the past day, pushing the national death toll to 1,915.

Russian coronavirus cases overtook French and German infections this week to become the fifth highest in the world.

The daily growth rate has made up 5.5% in in the past 24 hours, which is the lowest since the outbreak. The crisis center also said that 4,674 among the new patients (42.4%) have no symptoms of the disease, TASS writes.

Eighty-two more Russian regions have reported new cases, including 1,133 new coronavirus patients in the Moscow region, 414 – in St. Petersburg, 262 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 139 in the Sverdlovsk Region, 119 in the Volgograd Region and 99 in the Krasnodar Region.

As many as 2,390 patients have recovered in 70 regions of the country, including 1,011 recoveries in Moscow, 206 – in the Moscow Region, 93 in Dagestan, 61 in the Chelyabinsk Region and 52 in the Kirov Region.

Eighty-eight patients have died in the past 24 hours, including 58 in Moscow, nine in the Moscow Region, two in the Nizhny Novgorod Region as well as two patients dying in the Kaluga, Lipetsk, Murmansk, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar regions as well as in Kalmykia and Ingushetia.

The number of coronavirus patients has exceeded 1,000 in Russia’s Oryol, Chelyabinsk and Volgograd regions, bringing the overall number of these regions to 33.

According to it, 90 more people have been infected in the Chelyabinsk region in the past 24 hours (1,041 people infected in the region overall), 50 people – in the Oryol region, which now reports 1,023 coronavirus cases overall, and 119 more people have been infected in the Volgograd region (to 1,012).
