The World Health Organization (WHO) has registered 228 thousand infected with coronavirus per day – this is a new record. A day earlier, 204.9 thousand cases of infection were reported. The daily increase in deaths is about 5,500.
According to the organization, the total number of people infected worldwide exceeded 12 million people, more than 551,000 patients with COVID-19 died, Kommersant reported.
According to the WHO, the region remains the epicenter of the pandemic of the Americas (6.2 million infected, 276,000 dead), followed by Europe (2.8 million infected and 202,000 dead) and the Eastern Mediterranean (1.2 million infected and 29,000 dead).
