Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated during a business trip to the Vladimir area on Saturday that the Sputnik Light vaccine should only be used for revaccination, and that appropriate revisions to vaccination recommendations would be issued later in the day.
“As the Delta variant spreads, adjustments in vaccination methodological guidelines will undoubtedly be released today,” Murashko said. “Sputnik Light must be used solely for revaccination.”
According to the Russian health minister, the initial immunization should still be given with COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved in Russia, such as Sputnik V.
Murashko mentioned the Vladimir Region’s extremely low immunization rates among those over the age of 60.
“As of today, they are the first to become unwell and to become very ill,” the minister continued.
