Russia Registers over 7,900 New Cases of Coronavirus

In Russia, 7933 new cases of coronavirus infection per day were detected, data from the site of the Federal Operational Headquarters of Stopcoronavirus.ru has shown, as reported by Vedomosti. This is a new record for the number of cases per day. The total number of patients in Russia by May 1 reached 114,431 people.

On the last day, 96 patients with coronavirus died, the total number of deaths associated with COVID-19 reached 1169 people. 1601 people were cured of coronavirus per day. 100,042 people continue treatment.

Moscow continues to lead in the total number of patients with COVID-19 – a total of 57,300 cases of the disease are registered in Moscow, 50,876 of them are active. Over the past day, coronavirus was detected in 3561 residents of the capital. During the day, doctors cured 631 patients with COVID-19, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development Anastasia Rakova. The next region in the number of new cases per day is Moscow Region: 797 people found coronavirus there, the total number of cases increased to 12,507 patients.

The top 10 regions in terms of the number of new cases also included St. Petersburg (plus 349 cases), Sverdlovsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions (plus 232 and 179 cases, respectively), Nizhny Novgorod region (plus 179), the Republic of Dagestan (plus 164), Kaluga region ( plus 121), the Stavropol Territory (plus 89) and the Bryansk Region (plus 88).

Among the regions with the largest number of cases, in addition to Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg (4411), Nizhny Novgorod region (2123) and Dagestan (1553), include the Murmansk region (1313), Krasnodar Territory (1083), Tula, Rostov, and Kaluga region (1047, 1026 and 1006, respectively). In the remaining regions, coronavirus was found in less than 1000 people.

The non-working day due to the spread of coronavirus, which was in effect throughout April, was extended in Moscow and the Moscow Region until May 11. In Bryansk, Oryol, Ivanovo, Omsk, and other areas, the regime of mandatory wearing of masks in public places was announced, the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov spoke about the intention to introduce the same requirements the day before.
