More than 100 Russians landed in the Dominican Republic after coronavirus restrictions on flights to and from the nation were lifted, according to Vyacheslav Pankov, chief of the Russian embassy’s section in Punta Cana told TASS.
According to him, 100-115 individuals came at La Romana Casa De Campo International Airport, the majority of them were tourists. “As far as I know, plans call for three flights to Punta Cana every week,” Pankov added.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, Russia halted flights to and from the Dominican Republic about a year ago. Azur Air, Russia’s largest charter airline, has already announced services to the Dominican Republic.
Earlier, it was announced that Russia will restart flights to Egypt’s resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, as well as the Dominican Republic, Moldova, and Bahrain.
Russian airlines will also operate two flights per week between Moscow and Manama (Bahrain), three flights per week between Moscow and Punta Cana, three flights per week between Moscow and La Romana, three flights per week between Moscow and Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), and three flights per week between Moscow and Chisinau (Moldova).
