Sheremetyevo Invites Young Russians to Travel into the World of Art on the “Pushkin Map”

Sheremetyevo International Airport, renamed after Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, supports the all-Russian program “Pushkinskaya Karta” – a joint project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation and Post Bank aimed at popularizing cultural events among young people.

Sheremetyevo Airport supported a federal initiative organized to acquaint the Russian youth audience with world cultural values ​​and the best examples of classical and contemporary art. Information videos about the project with the image of the great Russian poet and writer A.S. Pushkin – the main ambassador of the “Pushkinskaya Karta” program.

It is also symbolic that on October 26, 2021, it is from Sheremetyevo airport that the direct descendants of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, arriving in Moscow, will begin their acquaintance with the homeland of the classic.

A solemn reception will be held at the airport in honor of the unique event, during which the heirs of the great Russian poet will get acquainted with the main attraction of the airport – the monument to A.S. Pushkin in the atrium of Terminal E.

Also, the honored guests will award the winners of the corporate literary competition “Pushkin for every SVO. Children’s version”, in which young poetry lovers – children of the airport employees take part.

In 2019, the Sheremetyevo airport was renamed after Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin by popular vote. From that moment on, Sheremetyevo began implementing an extensive program aimed at popularizing the poet’s rich creative heritage in Russia and abroad.

Thus, the airport, in collaboration with art partners, regularly holds large-scale cultural and educational events for passengers, whose repertoire reflects the immortal masterpieces of the classics.

An important area of ​​development for Sheremetyevo is joint project activities with the leading cultural centers of Russia, which also bear the name of the poet – the Moscow Drama Theater, the State Museum, the Library-Reading Room, the State Institute of the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin.

The name of the great poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin was awarded to Sheremetyevo International Airport following the results of the Great Names of Russia competition following the Decree of the President of Russia No. 246 “On naming airports the names of persons with special services to the Fatherland” dated May 31, 2019.

On June 5, 2019, on the eve of the 220th anniversary of the birth of the classic, official events dedicated to this significant event took place at Sheremetyevo.

The culmination of the program was the opening of the sculpture by A.S. Pushkin by the People’s Artist of Russia A.N. Burganov in the atrium of the departure area of ​​Terminal E, which today is one of the main attractions of the airport.

The all-Russian program to support the accessibility of cultural institutions for young people “Pushkinskaya Karta” was launched on September 1, 2021. According to the project, 13 million citizens of the Russian Federation aged 14 to 22 years old can receive the “Pushkinskaya Karta”, on the balance of which there will be 3 thousand rubles.

The funds credited to the card can be spent only in cultural institutions. The program allows young citizens to gain access to cultural institutions throughout Russia – theaters, museums, galleries, philharmonic societies, conservatories.
