The most profitable international route for Ukrzaliznytsia in 2019 was the Kiev – Moscow train, RIA Novosti reported.
The profit from the route connecting the capitals of the two states amounted to 145.2 million hryvnias (380.2 million rubles). In this direction, 339.4 thousand places were put up for sale, of which 253.5 thousand were sold.
In second place in terms of income among international destinations was the train from Krivoy Rog to Moscow, and in third place was Moscow.
The most unprofitable direction was the train from Khmelnitsky to the Russian capital.
Earlier, the ex-Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said that the railway connection with Russia ceases by itself. At the same time, the official admitted that trains to Russia are in demand, but not the same as before.
The number of trains running between Russia and Ukraine has significantly decreased since 2015. At the same time, the Russian formations do not go to Ukraine, with the exception of the transit train Moscow – Chisinau – Moscow. The rest belongs to the Ukrainian Railways and the railway administrations of the CIS countries.
