Insurance for Nuclear Power Plants in Russia Amounts to $27 bn

Rosenergoatom, a subsidiary of Rosatom’s electric power department, has agreed to insure all domestic nuclear power plants (NPP) against catastrophic risks for 2 trillion rubles ($27 billion), TASS reports.

As per the documents of the procurement board meeting, which were posted on the government procurement website, Sogaz won the bidding.

Rosenergoatom will compensate the insurer a 3 billion ruble ($40.5 million) insurance premium.

The uploaded draft agreement reads that “all the property to be accounted as fixed assets” of Rosenergoatom’s nuclear power facilities is registered under the insurance arrangement.
