Norilsk Nickel disputes the amount of environmental damage caused by the spill of diesel fuel, the company said Wednesday, Interfax reported.
At the same time, the company confirms the obligation to eliminate the consequences of the accident at its own expense. The company sent a letter about this to Rosprirodnadzor on Wednesday.
The head of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin suggests organizing a joint work with Rosprirodnadzor, other state organizations and independent experts to develop a plan for environmental restoration, the company said.
Such work can be organized both within the framework of the interagency commission created by order of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, and in a specially created working group, specified in a press release.
Earlier it was reported that Rosprirodnadzor estimated the damage to the environment from the accident in Norilsk at 148.2 billion rubles.
