U.S. Will Not Stand by And Allow Putin to ‘Abuse’ Human Rights: Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Sunday that he is going to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to honor and recognize human rights when the two presidents meet in June, Reuters reports.

Biden who held a speech for Memorial Day, announced that he is meeting his Russian counterpart in a few weeks in Geneva, to which he added that the United States will not be standing by and letting Putin “abuse those rights”.

After Microsoft reported an assault on U.S. federal agencies by Nobelium, the entity behind last year’s SolarWind breach that started in Russia, the White House said on Friday it planned to proceed with the meeting between the two presidents.

The Kremlin has stated that it had no knowledge of the current incident.

The White House said the two leaders will cover a range of subjects at their June 16 meeting, with the objective of restoring “predictability and stability” in the Washington-Moscow relationship.

It comes amid strained ties over Russian denials of U.S. election meddling, hacking, and Ukraine.
