Ministry of Health Says Coronavirus Situation Not Stable Yet

There are no grounds to believe that the situation with the spread of new coronavirus infection in Russia has stabilized, so far, the Ministry of Health said. According to the Ministry, a high increase in the incidence rate remains in the country, so compliance with the self-isolation regime is “the most important factor in the fight against the epidemic.”

The increase in the number of new cases of the disease may be associated with a violation of the self-isolation regime, the deputy director of the Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health Vladimir Chulanov is convinced, as Vedomosti reported.

Compliance with the restrictions, he said, is the most effective measure to fight infection.

The day before, Veronika Skvortsova, the head of the Federal Biomedical Agency, said on Channel One that Russia had almost reached a plateau in terms of the number of diseases. The possible exit of Moscow to the peak incidence rate was previously allowed by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, in turn, argued that it is impossible to remove restrictions on coronavirus immediately after the peak incidence. This should be done in stages, building a system of actions, the minister said.

According to the operational headquarters to combat the spread of coronavirus on May 2, the total number of patients with COVID-19 in Russia is 124,054 people, and 1,222 patients died. A total of 15,013 people have fully recovered while some 107,819 continue treatment.
