Record COVID-related Deaths in Russia This Week

The number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in Russia in the past seven days turned out to be the maximum since the beginning of the epidemic, based on the statistics of the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center.

The number of detected cases of infection in the country has increased by almost a quarter, and the number of those Russians who are sick right now has reached a maximum since the end of February.

From June 21 to June 27, the headquarters reported 134,465 infected against 108,139 a week earlier (an increase of 24.3%). This is the maximum since January 2021.

In total, according to his information, 5,451,291 people, or more than 3.7% of residents, were infected in the country.

The incidence rate, taking into account the population, reached 13.1 cases per day for every 100 thousand inhabitants – a maximum since January 29. A week ago, it was equal to 10.6.

The spread of coronavirus, according to TASS estimates, has been above one for three weeks in a row. This may indicate an increase in the epidemic process.
