The global tourism industry met at Bit, the fortieth edition of BitMilano which ended last Tuesday after three days full of dynamic networking and high-quality content. The event brought together more than 1,100 exhibitors from 68 countries, both Italian and international destinations, DMC/DMO, hotel chains, tour operators, a network of agencies, carriers and associations.
The event welcomed more than 40,000 visitors, including travelers, journalists, and industry operators, confirming BitMilano’s international flavor: Greece, Switzerland, Spain, India, Russian Federation, and the United States as the top countries of origin, obviously after Italy. Satisfaction also confirmed by more than 600 Buyers selected by Fiera Milano from 65 countries, in particular, the USA, India, Russia, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa; MyMatching platform greatly appreciated, which facilitated B2B meetings, for a total of 11,198 business matches.
The 2020 edition rewarded the high-quality contents which emerged from the packed convention programme, which took an in-depth look primarily at four subject areas, Training, Technology, Hot Topics, Food-and-wine tourism. More than 5,000 participants attended more than 100 events the quality of the speeches held in MICE Village on the subject areas Bit4Job, BeTech and I Love Wedding was also appreciated, as were the multitude of presentations and training initiatives organized by the exhibitors.
The trends highlighted during the convention events confirm the current trends in the industry: food-and-wine, cultural tourism, spas, and well-being and eco-tourism represent the most important segments, sought after by both Italian and international travelers.
BitMilano has always been held up as an indicator of the state of health and of the new trends in the tourism industry: the new edition is warmly received and provides important indications of the choices of the contemporary traveler, on the hunt for unique experiences now more than ever. The exhibitors present have fully grasped the current needs, focussing their offers on particular market segments, in which sustainability has become a priority value, especially among Millennials.
The next edition of BitMilano will take place at Fieramilanocity, in February 2021.
