Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov doesn’t expect concrete results from the investigation of the explosions at ammunition depos in the Czech city of Vrbetica. According to him, that the United States and the Czech Republic showed an extremely unfriendly approach to Russia, accusing Moscow of everything that happened.
Lavrov questioned how no one has been able to explain about what the investigating authorities have been doing all these years, in the aftermath of the explosion that happened 7 years ago. Moreover, in the Czech Republic, “they are confusing the testimonies and they are putting forward new versions of the events.” Lavrov said.
“We must first deal with such things at home, before expelling diplomats, accusing them of what the investigation hasn’t proved to be true yet.”
In mid-April, Prague accused the Russian special services of detonating weapons at the former army depots in Vrbetica. The Czech Republic designated 18 Russian diplomats as persona non grata.
In response, 20 employees of the Czech diplomatic mission in Moscow were expelled from Russia. According to the Kremlin, the unsubstantiated accusations from the Czech Republic also caused extreme damage to the bilateral relations between the two sides.
