Russia Registers Record COVID-Related Deaths

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Russia climbed by 752 per day on Saturday, up from 726 the day before, to 142,253, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis center, TASS reports.

According to the center’s statistics, the disease’s death rate remained at 2.47 percent (the ultimate rate can only be ascertained once the epidemic has ended). In instance, 102 deaths per day were recorded in St. Petersburg, 28 in Irkutsk and Nizhny Novgorod, 22 in Krasnodar Territory, and 21 in Rostov Region.

The number of confirmed cases of infection in Russia increased per day by 25,082, to 5,758,300. In relative terms, the increase in the number of cases was 0.44%. In particular, 2,487 cases of infection were detected per day in the Moscow region, 1,978 – in St. Petersburg, 527 – in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 423 – in the Voronezh region, 401 – in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Every day, the number of people who recovered from the coronavirus grew by 17,750. In total, 5,182,837 individuals have regained their health. According to the headquarters, the proportion of discharged patients has decreased to 90% of the total number of infected. In the Moscow region, 1,981 patients were discharged each day following recuperation, 389 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 365 in the Sverdlovsk region, 358 in the Voronezh region, and 301 in the Perm region.

In Russia, 433,210 individuals are currently infected.
