Chumakov Center to Double CoviVac Production

After receiving new equipment in June-July, the Chumakov Federal Scientific Center plans to increase production of the CoviVac vaccine against coronavirus infection, according to the center’s Director-General Aydar Ishmukhametov, who spoke at the 9th international conference on efficient management in healthcare on Thursday, according to TASS.

The Russian Healthcare Ministry approved the whole-virion inactivated CoviVac vaccine created by the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immune and Biological Products on February 19. In whole-virion vaccinations, either intentionally weakened viruses that are incapable of producing disease or dead (inactivated) viruses are utilized.
