Nearly 2,000 people, including journalists, took part in an unauthorized rally in downtown Moscow on January 31, the Main Department of the Russian Interior Ministry told reporters on Sunday, TASS reported.

“In Moscow, there was an unauthorized public event, in which nearly 2,000 people took part as of 14:30 Moscow Time, including media representatives,” the press service said.

Some 600 participants attempted to march across pavements of several streets. “Police jointly with other law enforcement agencies continue ensuring public order in the city,” the ministry stressed.

According to police, the unauthorized event this Sunday drew half as much participants than on January 23, when nearly 4,000 people took part. The prosecutors and police warned many times about the responsibility for participating in illegal rallies.
