Sheremetyevo Serves 34 Million Passengers over Eight Months

The number of passengers serviced at Sheremetyevo International Airport for the first eight months of 2019 has increased by 13% year-on-year, totaling 33.897 million.

The data has once again earned Sheremetyevo the title of the world’s top airport by punctuality, according to Flightstats rankings, with 93.83% of flights departing on time.

From January to August 2019, passenger traffic on international flights was up 10% (17.998 million), and domestic traffic rose by 16.5% (15.899 million).

The number of passengers served in August has increased by 10.6% compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to 5.277 million. Passenger traffic on international flights rose by 7.8% and amounted to 2.873 million people, while the number of passengers on domestic routes grew 14.2%, reaching 2.404 million.

The most popular international destinations from January to August were Antalya, Paris, Yerevan, Beijing, and Tel Aviv. The top domestic destinations in the first eight months of 2019 were St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, and Krasnodar.

In the eight months of 2019, the largest contributors to the increase in Sheremetyevo‘s passenger traffic were Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, Pegas Fly, Royal Flight, and Air France.

Between January and August, Sheremetyevo oversaw 259,080 takeoff and landing operations (TOLs), up 12.7% from the same period in 2018. The number of TOLs in August increased by 8.5% to reach 35,538 operations.
