According to tourist sector insiders’ statements for Izvestia, the number of flights from Russia to Egypt’s resorts may be boosted by increasing Moscow’s limit as well as introducing flights from Russian areas.

According to Yuri Barzukin, vice leader of the Russian Union of the Travel Industry, charter flights to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh may return by the end of August. The headquarters are likely to examine the Egyptian restriction at their next meeting.

Previously, it was said that the topic will be considered following an assessment of Egypt’s epidemiological status. According to Egyptian media, the Russian delegation was pleased with the precautionary steps that had been implemented thus far.

On July 23, the anti-coronavirus crisis center authorized direct flights from Moscow to Egypt. Starting on August 9, there will be five weekly flights to both Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh.

The vice chairman stated that charter flights to Egyptian destinations might be authorized before the end of August, and that the Union had asked the prime minister to expedite the procedure.

“The commission concluded its job, and the reaction has been good, so almost nothing stands in the way of the start of charter flights to Egypt. This is the next stage, not an increase in frequent flights from Russia. And the issue will be determined not by COVID-19, but by the need for and willingness of airlines and tour companies to create tourist flow to Egypt. After all, August is a hot month, and the bulk of visitors will prefer to travel between September and November,” he stated.
